Press Release:

This fall AsiaAlive features sets of artists working in different media and traditions, engaging the public through interactive demonstrations, and explaining how their art forms relate to traditional calligraphy and writing styles.

Lines, Space, and Sound with calligrapher Kazuaki Tanahashi and musician Aenea Keyes

In this unique collaborative work, Kazuaki Tanahashi demonstrates East Asian calligraphy using strokes and colors, and interacting with Aenea Keyes’ violin performance. The two artists, both inspired by East Asian calligraphy, discuss their artistic themes, forms, and creative processes.

The Writing as Art Series continues every third weekend October to December, Friday–Sunday, 12:00 noon–4:00 pm.
