Press Release:

Ruptures: Forms of Public Address features an international group of artists including Doug Ashford, Ida Applebroog, Mircea Cantor, Theo Ellsworth & Caleb Monroe, Ganzeer, Igor Grubic, Sharon Hayes, Iman Issa, Will Kwan, Antoni Muntadas, REPOcommons, REPOhistory, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Lincoln Tobier, Liu Wei, and Krzysztof Wodiczko.

Curated by Saskia Bos and Steven Lam, the exhibition explores politically vital issues surrounding the struggle for democracy and public space. Through a precise, yet varied selection of works the exhibition catalyzes dissensus and disruptions within the public realm. Situated within the context of the upcoming US elections and the one-year anniversary of the Occupy movement, the exhibition explores the urgency, promise, and fragility of public and fearless speech within the aftermath of the 2010-11 demonstrations that have erupted across the world in city streets, university campuses, and urban centers.
