Asia Art Archive in America Summer 2017 Internship Program

Asia Art Archive in America is an independent nonprofit whose mission is to collect, preserve, and make information on contemporary art from and of Asia easily accessible in order to facilitate understanding, research and writing in the field. We seek a motivated, responsible, and organized part-time summer intern. The internship program at AAAinA is an opportunity to learn how a non-profit organization runs, to discover new interpretations of contemporary art, and engage with artists, art professionals, and other students in the contemporary art world.

Responsibilities:
Internship responsibilities vary according to current needs and may include
some of the following:

  • Cataloguing, labeling, and shelving our physical collection.
  • Updating our online collection database, including our digital video collection.
  • Assistance with digitization projects, including scanning and quality control.
  • Participate in the production of special events and screenings, including documentation and social media publicity.
  • General office duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Interested in archival collections management, knowledge of art history and contemporary Asian art is a plus.
  • Working toward a degree in Fine Art, Art History, Non-Profit Administration, Anthropology, History, or Library Science (preferred but not necessary).
  • Very detail-oriented and able to work independently to complete projects
  • Familiar with MS Office, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Experience with Final Cut Pro and other video editing software preferred.
  • Familiarity with at least one foreign language a plus.
  • Courteous professional, and a smiling team player, with a pleasant disposition and strong sense of service

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two days per week, our office hours are Monday – Friday from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm.
  • Program will run late June – early September.
