Asia Art Archive in America (AAAinA) champions the cultural contributions of Asian communities in the U.S. and globally.

Founded in 2009, AAAinA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching public understanding of the world through the collection, preservation, and sharing of knowledge around recent art from and of Asia. Our mission is to spark dialogue, support specialized research, and build community — with a focus on amplifying under-recognized art histories and art practice in Asia and the Asian diaspora.

To achieve this goal, AAAinA maintains a reading room in Brooklyn, New York, which is open to the public free of charge. We host over 6,000 monographs, exhibition catalogues, reference books, periodicals, and audio-visual materials, plus over 120,000 digitized records of primary and secondary research materials.

AAAinA also organizes a regular program of talks, screenings, exhibitions, residencies, workshops, participatory projects, and panels with artists, curators, critics, and scholars in the field to activate our archives and collections.

Sharing the same mission, Asia Art Archive has three independently-operated offices in Hong Kong, New York, and New Delhi.

Our programs and operations are funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in Partnership with the City Council, The Vilcek Foundation, and other foundations and individuals.
