The catalog for the exhibition Drifting Objects of Dreams: The collection of Shuzo Takiguchi held at Setagaya Art Museum and Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design in 2005.
Shuzo Takiguchi (1903-1979), known for introducing Surrealism to Japan, was a remarkable poet and art critic who continually promoted the true spirit of the avant-garde. He was surrounded by large numbers of artists from Japan and from overseas. This exhibition showcases the many works of art that Takiguchi acquired from these artists and preserved in his own home. The exhibition, Drifting Objects of Dreams, is based on the Shuzo Takiguchi Collection in the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design. It shows the work of artists who were contemporaries of Takiguchi and engaged in a creative dialogue with him, reexamining the free and energetic interchange that took place between them. The artists represented include Duchamp, Miro, Michaux, Shusaku Arakawa, Mitsuo Kano, and Natsuyuki Nakanishi.”
