The Gwangju Biennale, founded for the sharing and communication of contemporary art and culture, now opens a new horizon for the development of humanity and cultural creation as it marks more than ten years of history.

The 6th Gwangju Biennale, held under the theme of ‘Fever Variations’, reaffirms the role of the city of Gwangju as an origin of Asian art and culture by promoting Asian spirit and culture – prevalent in both Eastern and Western contemporary art – to the world.

The city of Gwangju is developing itself as a haven not only for cultural and artistic creation, performance, and exchanges at the international industries, by establishing the Asian Culture Complex, based on the accumulated cultural resources of the Gwangju Biennale and nationally supported related projects.
