Saturday May 22, 2010The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum 258 Main St, Ridgefield CT 06877 Tel. 203-438-4519
Xu Bing, artist, vice-president of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, and recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, will join Barbara Pollack, artist, critic, and author of The Wild, Wild East: An American Art Critic’s Adventures in China, to discuss the new art of China at a benefit for The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum’s exhibition fund.
China has become a major world force, with a booming economy and a vibrant contemporary art scene. The emergence of a generation of important Chinese artists and a vital new Asian marketplace for their work has attracted the attention of discerning international collectors. The Aldrich invites you to enter the sphere of Chinese contemporary art in the company of Xu Bing—a luminary of the Chinese art scene and mentor to its emerging artists—and Barbara Pollack, whose critical acumen will be our guide to this new phenomenon.
Join director Harry Philbrick and the Trustees of The Aldrich for a sophisticated evening of insight into the Chinese art world, followed by a superb seated dinner in the galleries.
