|Where||The Clocktower Gallery
108 Leonard Street, 13 Floor
New York, NY 10013
Thursday, June 27 2013, 6-8pm
Join Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter for a gathering and artist presentation focusing on his new surround sound installation portrait of the aerosol recorded through the process of creating his mural Aeromural, now repainted white.
Aeromural, the previous piece, was a room-swallowing mural installation of “Quick Turn Structure”, the recurring motif and signature style of artist Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter. Born in Tokyo to an Italian-German father and a Japanese mother, Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter developed his fascination for the language of graffiti whilst growing up in Tokyo. His signature “Quick Turn Structure” is a visually striking black-and-white minimal pattern developed from stripping down the more visceral language of street graffiti to only essentials. Now painted over white, his residency space has been transformed into a sound installation piece with many small speakers that will reproduce the previously recorded sounds of the painting process, a reminder of the mural long gone.
This talk takes place on June 27th, no admittance after 7pm. RSVP is required to firstname.lastname@example.org
The Clocktower Gallery projects of Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter are made possible by a grant from the POLA ART FOUNDATION, Japan.
