Yin Xiuzhen will exhibit her large-scale installation, Collective Subconscious in MoMA’s Project Gallery; its second floor atrium. A leading figure in contemporary Chinese art, Xiuzhen started her practice in art in the early 1990s and has since exhibited widely and internationally. Most well-known for her works that incorporate second-hand clothing, she brings a softness and familiarity to her commentary on development and urbanization. Collective Subconscious debuted at Yin’s solo exhibition at Beijing Commune in 2007.
Please see AAA-A’s Photologue (Spring2010) for images of Yin Xiuzhen and guests on her opening night.
Concurrently, Xiuzhen has works from 1994-2008 at Chambers Fine Art, from February 4th to March 20th, 2010. 522 W19th St, NYC – Tel. 212.414.1169
MoMA’s Projects series was created in 1971 as a forum for emerging artists and new art. Yin Xiuzhen is the second Chinese artist to have a solo exhibition in this series following Song Dong’s installation last summer. Second Skin, a solo exhibition of Yin Xiuzhen’s new works, will open at Pace Beijing on March 20th, 2010.
The Elaine Dannheisser Projects Series is made possible in part by The Junior Associates of The Museum of Modern Art and the JA Endowment Committee.
