Reagan Louie’s photography and installations explore global transformation and cultural identity. His work has been shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Zurich. Louie’s photographs are in numerous public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, National Endowment for the Arts grants, and a Fulbright Fellowship. Louie’s book on China, Toward a Truer Life, was named the best photography book of the year by the New York Times Book Review and his book Orientalia was selected as one of the best photography books of the year by American Photography Magazine. Louie is an Associate Professor in SFAI’s Photography Department.
