Press Release:
This new interdisciplinary work by Lenora Lee is inspired by stories of three generations of men in the Lee family and their peers as they realized their identity and community as Chinese Americans. Utilizing dance, video projection, martial arts, and Chinese lion dance, “Reflections” transforms perception into insight in a process that is at once provocative and affecting.
Lenora will share through commentary, video and live performance her exploration of cultural themes embedded in the work. These include the struggle to find one’s place and one’s community in a rapidly changing cultural and global environment.
“Reflections” – by Lenora Lee Dance in collaboration with Kei Lun Martial Arts & Enshin Karate, South San Francisco Dojo, featuring media design by Olivia Ting, music by Francis Wong, text by Genny Lim, and videography by Ben Estabrook.
