On October 22 at 8AM NYC / 2 PM GER / 8PM TPE, join ACC Taiwan’s inDialogue with Oliver Elser (Germany) and Chun-Hsiung Wang (Taiwan), leading architects and curators of the Jut Museum’s exhibition SOS Brutalism: Save the Concrete Monsters!—the first-ever global survey of Brutalist architecture. Moderated by Nancy Lin, this talk will focus on the influence of Brutalism on architecture worldwide and on people’s daily lives.

The term “Brutalism” does not originate from the word “brutal”, but rather “béton brut”— the French term for exposed concrete; the expressive style emerged during a period of experimentation and societal upheaval. Today, many are at risk of being demolished.

Oliver Elser is a curator at the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) in Frankfurt am Main and was curator of Making Heimat, the German Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale. He studied architecture at the Technical University in Berlin.

Chun-Hsiung Wang has served as Dean of the Department of Architecture at Shih Chien University since 2018. He earned a Master of Architecture from Cornell University and a PhD in Architecture from the National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan.

Nancy Lin (moderator) serves as the Senior Vice President of Strategy Planning and Chief of Staff of the President Office at AECOM Asia Pacific Office. She graduated from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
