This exhibition is the third installment for a long-term project of the Korean American Artist Archive. AHL Foundation has been working on this project since 2012 and made much progress. Korean artists started to settle down in New York in the 1960s while a large number of artists arrived here to study at various MFA programs in the 1980s. The third installment of an exhibition will present many younger artists who set up their studios and started their professional careers in the first decade of the 21st century. Many of these artists are conceptual or installation artists. While some specialize in digital media such as photography, video, or computer-generated images while others adhere to sustainable materials.

In the first decade of the 21st century, Gallery Korea have instituted its popular Call for Artists to organize three to four exhibitions for about 20-25 artists a year while the AHL Foundation started its annual competition of selecting four artists. Many artists featured in this archive exhibition received high honors in these programs. This show will be a milestone to portend vigorous careers of about 40 promising artists with more than 80 pieces of original art works and historical documents.
