Following the Asian Art Museum’s public event, Lessons on the Far East, the Honourable East India Institute (HEII) launches its latest project, Why are we going to Brunei? at Kadist Art Foundation. Through a generous grant from an anonymous organization, the HEII is planning an expedition devoted to “Brunei Studies.” Combining elements of performance, happening, and constructed events, Why are we going to Brunei? brings together a number of specialists and colleagues united by their profound scholarly interest in all aspects of Southeast Asia—its archaeology, sociology, science, art history, architecture, history, philosophy, etc. During the project’s first take at Kadist, these specialists will engage the audience in a discussion by sharing recent progress made during this research project.
Participants include Binta Ayofemi, William Hernandez, Scott Norton, Rusty Rebar, Christopher Schuster, Sophia Wang, Christopher W. White, Xiaoyu Weng and the Kadist team, and others.
