Light Light is a collection of four photography zines by Salem Al Qassimi, Jenan Ismail, Kevin Zweerink, and Ray Yafi. Each artist takes a different approach towards conceptualizing and utilizing light and employs it to conjure a distinct version of the same city. Salem gives us a peek into the dimly lit streets of the city at night, focusing on mundane corners and marginalized figures. Jenan takes a different approach and captures the city in broad daylight, highlighting infrastructure, from buildings to roads to dilapidated billboards and signs. Also working with sunlight, Ray emphasizes shadows in his zine through a series of black and white photos. Lastly, the fourth zine, by Kevin, consists of close up photographs of chandeliers, highlighting the refraction of light through a variety of crystals and light pieces.
