In conjunction with Kishio Suga, on view at Dia Beacon, scholar Reiko Tomii discusses Suga’s feature-length murder-mystery film, Being and Murder (1999), in relation to the artist’s philosophical theory of space and perception. Expanding on these themes, Tomii introduces youthful fictional writings by two other literary-minded Conceptual artists, Yoko Ono and Yutaka Matsuzawa, situating their work within the artistic milieu of 1970s Tokyo. The lecture is preceded by a screening of Being and Murder and followed by a conversation between Tomii and Dia curator Matilde Guidelli-Guidi.
