Join us for a reading and Q&A with author Karen Cheung on the occasion of the publication of The Impossible City and Karen’s first visit to New York City. This event will also feature a Q&A moderated by Clare Mao.

Karen Cheung is the author of The Impossible City, a memoir of grandmothers and underground shows and the historical moments that define a city. It is a book about twenty-two roommates, psychiatric wards, and finding, then losing, a home. Invariably, it is also an account of protest and grief and resilience, as Karen grapples with what it means to be a Hongkonger, and herself.
