For the grand finale, donors of $250 and up will not only be entered into the artist book raffle, but will also get a chance to win a unique work by the artist Bahar Behbahani. Behbahani is a Creative Capital Award Recipient and will also be contributing to the Sharjah Biennial 15: Thinking Historically in the Present that is upcoming in 2023.

Bahar Behbahani, "Study on Octagon", 2021-present, charcoal and oil on paper, 9 x12 in. Courtesy of the artist.

Behbahani shared her thoughts with us on “Study on Octagon”:

“During the pandemic I drew more than hundreds of drawings meditating on the possibility of a kinetic sculpture, a rain collector that suggests the moon and water interaction. Octagon carries a high spiritual weight in many cultures as well as a key icon in Persian gardens. During the 1950’s in America the octagon made its architectural imprint which began in New York and within a few years spread to other large cities. Study on Octagon is a meditation on structures that unify sky, sea and science, imagining the tidal movement with the connection to our body and the present climate.” – Bahar Behbahani 11/2022
