New York, NY

Lucy Liu is one of this year’s honorees at the New York Studio School Fall Benefit Event. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1990 with a B.A. in Asian Languages and Cultures, she attended the New York Studio School and has been showing her work since the mid-1990s.

Lucy’s recent exhibitions include a duo exhibition with Shibigi Rao at the National Museum of Singapore in 2019, a group exhibition at Objective in Shanghai with Chambers Fine Art earlier this year, and her solo exhibition One of These Things is not like the Others, currently on view at the Napa Valley Museum Yountville in Yountville, CA.

The New York Studio School celebrates three extraordinary forces in the art world: Emily Braun, Distinguished Professor at Hunter College and The Graduate Center at CUNY and curator of the Leonard A. Lauder Cubist Collection, Lucy Liu, award-winning actress, director and visual artist, and Lowery Stokes Sims, esteemed independent curator and art historian. On the evening of October 14, you will catch a glimpse into the various cities where they have made waves of accomplishments. Welcome to a festive evening —applauding these three renowned honorees— and join us in toasting the intrepid force that is the New York Studio School. At 8pm our Virtual Program will begin with honoree speeches and a fascinating glimpse into their world. A live scholarship pledge drive will follow along with live images of the incredible works available!
